Reality Check

Non-determinism isn't noise. It's the same dice for everyone.

“How do you measure AI visibility reliably when models are non-deterministic?”

The short answer

You can’t trust a single AI answer, but you can trust the aggregate. By sampling the same prompts hundreds of times across 8 AI models, Reaudit measures four stable signals: mention rate, share of voice, citation rate, and sentiment. So a move like 35% to 52% mention rate is a real, reproducible trend rather than random noise. Non-determinism is a sampling problem, not a measurement problem.

The Objection

“How do you measure AI visibility reliably when models are non-deterministic?” It is a fair challenge. If you ask ChatGPT the same question twice and get two different answers, how can any of it be a metric?

Reality Check

You’re right that individual answers vary. But over hundreds of runs across 8 models, patterns emerge. One answer is an anecdote; hundreds of answers are a distribution. We don’t screenshot a single response. We sample at scale and track rates.

If you’re mentioned in 35% of answers this month and 52% next month, that’s a real trend, not noise. The randomness is the same for everyone; what changes is your content strategy. Then we show agencies the actual results from brands that already use Reaudit as a tool, or that hire us as their AI-native agency.

  • Mention rate

The % of AI answers that name you.

  • Share of voice

Your mentions vs. competitors, measured in the same runs, under the same randomness.

  • Citation rate

How often answers include an actual link back to your site.

  • Sentiment trends

How positively or negatively you’re described, tracked over time.

The Lesson

Non-determinism is a sampling problem, not a measurement problem. The variance lives in any single answer, not in the aggregate. Hold the sample size and the model set constant, and the noise largely cancels out. What remains is signal.

So stop judging your AI visibility from one screenshot. Measure rates and trends across many runs and many models, keep the method fixed, and let the month-over-month direction tell you whether your strategy is working. Whether you use Reaudit or not, that is how you make a non-deterministic system measurable.
